2024/2025: EUROPE SHARES the heritage of authentic wines from the ancient Thracian Lowlands PGI in the United Kingdom

Upcoming Thracian wines’ promotional activities are the perfect occasion to enjoy unforgettable journeys to the ancient Thracian lands, customs and history of winemaking, which will also boost your knowledge on European quality products originating from regions bearing PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) and PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) designations. These designations ensure that each bottle originates from a specific region and adheres to the highest quality standards, meticulously tracing its provenance back to the vineyards that nurtured its grapes. To protect the names and qualities of specific products and to promote their unique characteristics, linked to their geographical origin and traditions of knowledge the European Union created the quality schemes and labels PDO and PGI.

During all upcoming events in the frame of Be Together (B2G) projects unique grape varieties like Mavrud, Rubin, Pamid, Vrachanski Misket, Dimyat, Tamyanka will be tasted on the background of Thracian culture presentation and the 6,000 years of winemaking experience preserved in this PGI region.

We are excited to share the Thracian wines’ manifesto at the island’s biggest wine exhibition “London Wine Fair 2024” in May. For a first time in London Wine Fair, 13 Bulgarian wineries got together to present more than 50 wines from the Thracian Lowlands PGI and Danube Plain – international and unique local grape varieties. Тhe impressive presentation of the extremely well-chosen palette of wines, history of the regions and winemaking from Thracian times caused great interest among the English audience from representatives of restaurants, bars and hotels, sommeliers, media.

We are thrilled to invite you to Presentation in restaurants on September 24th in Birmingham; October 7th in Edinburgh; October 8th in Glasgow; November 5th in London; November 11th in Manchester; November 12th in Liverpool; November 26th in Cardiff and on January 28th in Oxford, where more than 30 Thracian wines’ samples will be pulled and presented by famous Master Sommeliers.

What’s more, we are excited to announce that a delegation of importers, distributors, journalists, opinion leaders from the UK will travel to the Thracian wine regions in October 2024 and learn the history, traditions and main characteristics of wine production!

Don’t miss the Events for professionals in February 2025 in Leeds, Exeter and Newcastle if you want to taste fine Thracian wines and familiarize yourself with the EU quality systems (PGI/PDO), history, protection, requirements for recognition.

In February 2025, Thracian wines will be presented at The Specialist Importers’ Trade Tasting in Manchester and London, which hand-picks the most outstanding group of specialist wine importers so that you can find exciting, hand-crafted, authentic wines from Thracian lowlands.

On March 3rd, 2025, don’t miss the Business congress in London which gathers more than 50 wine experts! The event will be held by Masters of Wine and Masters Sommelier and is a great opportunity to make business connections!

The festive December will start with a spectacular Thracian Wine Festival at Henry VIII’s Palace Garden in London – Hampton Court Palace. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy more than 30 Thracian wines, unique Bulgarian kitchen and Thracian folklore performances.

Alongside the PGI/PDO-labeled products, you can also enjoy other exceptional food products marked with the EU organic logo. This logo is only used on products certified by authorised bodies, ensuring compliance with the strict EU regulations on production, transport, and storage  European organic production delivers high-quality food through a comprehensive system that integrates best environmental practices with rigorous standards for biodiversity and animal welfare. The method is governed by stringent EU regulations encompassing every stage of farm management and food production. This ensures the use of natural substances and processes while preserving natural resources. The regulations prohibit synthetic pesticides, fertilisers, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
